Eddie Palmieri and His Trombanga

Eddie Palmieri, known as "the Sun of Latin Music," revolutionized salsa with his "trombanga" orchestration, replacing charanga violins with trombones. Born in 1936, Palmieri's career spans over half a century, with his innovative style influencing Latin music significantly. His albums, such as Harlem River Drive and Vámonos Pa'l Monte, are noted for their social consciousness. Palmieri has received numerous accolades, including ten Grammy Awards, and his music is preserved in the Library of Congress.
